Nathalie’s 2026 thesis project at Portland State University proposes a model for democratically-controlled urban regeneration in Portland’s SE Brooklyn neighborhood.

WHO I AM

I design buildings that serve communities that are often underserved by the profession — public schools, houseless services, affordable housing, youth arts spaces. I bring strong programming, community engagement, and construction documentation skills to projects where the stakes are human.

Currently completing my M.Arch at Portland State and interning at BRIC Architects, where I'm supporting the Oregon School for the Deaf bond application. Graduating June 2026, actively seeking an emerging professional role in civic or community-centered practice.

Open to: Portland metro, hybrid/remote, or Seattle.

Design Manifesto

  1. Seek marginalized voices first.

  2. Collaborate with others as they imagine and realize their own futures without imposing.

  3. Realize the value of connection over representation.

  4. Make progress at the speed of trust.

  5. Take criticism without dispute.

  6. Create dialogue, inclusion, and empowerment through design.

  7. Promote the excellence of underrepresented forces in architectural design.

  8. Learn and understand the histories of injustice, oppression, and silencing of the BIPOC community. Be active in dismantling the systems of oppression continuing to hold these communities down.

  9. Create space for personal and communal evolution.

  10. Dismantle hierarchy and build dialogue, inclusion, and empowerment.

  11. Design with the intention of creating space fostering happiness and health for the greater community and environment.

  12. Continuous improvement and evaluation of the definition of Architecture.

This design manifesto is inspired by the BlackSpace Design Manifesto and was created during an exercise in the Portland State University Center for Public Interest Design Studio led by Todd Ferry. Thank you to these mentors for teaching me the value of intersectional design.
